Maybe I am hyper active. Maybe that’s it. Often consumed with an overwhelming need to cartwheel.
One problem, I can’t actually do cartwheels. It just feels like the physical expression of what’s quietly bubbling inside.
In a shared office space where I have spent many an hour, there is a runway. A long catwalk if you will, so carved out by the banks of other rented desks of up-start frenzy. One must traverse, strut or slink down this gauntlet to get from the elevator to the desk sometimes formally known as mine. Generally, from my fellow NotWeWork inhabitants its a heads bowed, eyes down activity.

Even for someone a little “extra” like me, it’s got its own Green Mile vibe about it. And yet, it also seems like the perfect place for cartwheels! One thing I know for certain, if we skipped down it, by the time you got to the other side, desk or elevator alike, you’d have a smile on your face. G-u-a-r-an-tee-d.
If, in the likely event a cartwheel seems inappropriate in an office environment (all be it an office that has a mini golf putting green and a ping pong table that sees fair action on a Monday morning) is it possible to distill the energy and enthusiasm released from such an activity?
Consider that energy. That joyful release that comes from something we would enjoy as a 4 year old, or whatever tune still gets you shimmy and shaking round your flat when no one is watching. Distill the power of your own joyful dancing, or cartwheeling at least once this week – out in the wild – in the office, on the commute – and see how it makes you feel in that moment. Come and tell me if you did it?
How did it feel?
Very best,
Natalie
